Great job boys!!

It feels like we escaped with a win today but I'm very proud of how you all played, especially since we were down most of the game.

Let's keep this streak going...win tomorrow and win all our games next weekend, and we're champs of our division!!

Sunday's game

I want to implore everyone to try and come out for Sunday's game as it's out last regular season game and we have our little celebration at the end. Even if you can't make the game, please come for the picnic.

Tournament Schedule

Hi all,

We have a schedule for the tournament. Our first game is on Saturday, June 7th at 8:30 am at Ben Lomond park, field 13 against McLean #4.

Provided we win, we will play at 1:30 against Burke Athletic #2, the team that defeated us in week 2 of the regular season.

If we win that game, we then play on Sunday, June 8th at 1:00 pm, again at Ben Lomond park, field 13.

So, there it is. We have a chance to win the tournament by winning all three games and I think you're good enough to do just that. But first things first, we've got to do well this coming weekend. See you tomorrow...

One more thought

Since we're going to be down on Saturday, I need everyone who can make it, make every effort to do so. If you need a ride, please let me know ahead of time so I can try and arrange for transportation.

Best game so far!

I was very impressed with how the team performed this evening. Excellent job by everyone! For those who couldn't make it tonight, we won 4-1 and it was just a very fun game to coach.

I also want to apologize for not sending out a post or email reminding everyone where and when the game was to be played tonight. We had 12 kids come but I remember that at least 15 had said they could in the poll I had posted a couple of weeks ago. Please remember to check the schedule often...and check this blog often for updates on game times and schedules.

I also want to apologize because I know someone tried to call me but I forgot my phone at home. So, whoever it was, sorry...

Remember, our next game is on Saturday at 9:00 am at Tyrrell, where we were tonight. I know several of you cannot make it but I hope we have enough to field a team.

Also, on Sunday we play at 3:00 pm at Hellwig. So far, I have 13 confirmed for the game. I hope to see more of you then.

Make-up game on the 1st of June

Waheed pointed out that the schedule states that the make-up game on the 1st has us already losing 1-0 due to a forfeit. I emailed the SFL representative and the forfeit will be removed once we play the game. Apparently, the SFL tries to automatically reschedule games and if unsuccessful, awards the away team with a win (the home team has to provide the field and refs).

Anyhow, I wanted to make sure everyone knows that it's not a forfeit and that we can win, however, only 10 of you have confirmed. I need at least 12 (1 sub) to be competitive. Please answer the poll ASAP.

Make up game

We have a date and time for our make-up game; June 1st at 3:00 pm. So, as before please vote on the new poll to the right to let me know who will or won't be at that game.

Practice

According to the website, fields are closed at Hellwig so no practice today.

Tough loss

We made many mistakes in our last game, and two of them cost us dearly. I though we played pretty well in the first half but the other team came out with more energy in the second.

Let's try and finish out the season strong and win a couple of games. You boys have the talent, we just have to remember to play as a team and trust each other.

No update yet on a make-up date or time but it looks like most of you want a Sunday afternoon game. I think we're running out of weekends to make than happen unless we play on memorial day weekend. I don't think the opposing coach wants that so we're going to shoot for a Tuesday, or Thursday, June 3rd or June 5th at our regular practice time. I'll keep everyone posted.

I need to know whether a Sunday afternoon, say around 3:00 pm, or a weeknight is preferable for the game we missed this past weekend. Please indicate on the new poll I created on the right of the blog.

I've tried to contact the opposing coach but so far, no answer. When I do finally talk to her, I'd like to be able to propose a day of the week. So please answer the poll.

No practice today

The fields at Helwig are closed. For some reason, the 'Status Me' website didn't send me a text but when I checked the NVSC site, Helwig is definitely closed.

We'll do a long practice on Thursday...be ready!

Make up confirmed for the 28th

We'll be playing at Tyrell at 6:30 PM on the 28th. I'll let you know when we will make up the game from this past weekend.

As far as practice tomorrow, most likely it will be canceled with all the rain we've had over the past couple of days. Please check your email tomorrow to see if the fields are open.

Game tomorrow

Okay, with all the rain we've had and the rain forecast for tonight and tomorrow, we may not have a game tomorrow. Please check the fields line after 7:00 tomorrow morning to make sure the fields are open.

Thanks for all the responses for the make-up on the 28th. It looks like we have more than enough to field a team. I just hope some of you didn't vote twice! We'll do this again if we have more make-up games.

New date for our make-up game

Sorry folks; new date for the make-up game is 5/28/08. Please indicate in the poll to the right of this message (on the blog) 'Yes' if you can definitely make it, 'No' if you definitely can't and 'Maybe' if you're unsure.

I need at least 14 yes's to accept the new date. Hope you will all be there at the game.

Makeup game

The coach contacted me today to say that Miguel is going to be okay and back playing soccer in a month or so. So, that's great news!

He would like to reschedule our game for a Wednesday night, not sure which one but I suggested Wednesday the 21st of May since we have no games that weekend. Let me know if the day works...I imagine we'd play around 6:00 pm. The field location is yet to be determined but I would wager that it will be somewhere in the Woodbridge area. The coach of the team we're playing is going to try and get Howison Park off Minnieville Rd.

Update

I haven't heard anything more from the opposing coach regarding Miguel but I assume that he's home and doing well.

I've posted some pictures...just look to the right for a slide-show and link to the album. I'll be adding pictures throughout the season to this album so check back often.

Game today

I heard about the unfortunate events at today's game. I just got a call from the opposing coach and the player, Miguel, is going to be okay. He was taken to the hospital where they administered drugs and did a number of tests and I think he will be released tonight. When I know more about his condition, I'll let everyone know.

We will reschedule this game at a future time and as soon as I know, I'll keep everyone posted.

Game and pictures

We will not be doing pictures this Saturday. Only 7 kids are confirmed so just not enough for a good picture. As promised, I will bring my camera all through the season and take plenty of pictures. At our last game, I'll take team and individual pictures of any of the players who request one.

For our game this Saturday, we are short players. The team we're playing has not won a game yet but they tied their last game and I'm sure they're hungry for a win. I think we have 12 confirmed and one maybe (Matt A.). So, please...it's very important that each and every one of you come to the game ready to play hard for 70 minutes. It's going to be warm so please drink plenty of fluid before the game.
